Brash Higgins 2020 ‘NYMPH’ Nero Rosé
Made from Nero d’Avola picked at the right time off our Omensetter Vineyard. The handpicked grapes were pressed overnight with stems (aka whole bunch) to capture as much vineyard character, acidity and flavour as possible, but without the skin tannin typical of Nero. In the past we made this wine from Cinsault and Carignan, but decided it’d be fun to showcase part of our well-loved Nero d’Avola block. An ultra pale, coppery, cool wine is the result.
The oil painting on the 2020 Nymph label is called ”Lure” by Sydney based artist Martine Emdur. We have been lucky enough to have other works by her grace previous Nymph labels, as well. Her engrossing, luminous, underwater work can be found at Gallery Twenty Twenty Six in Sydney or @martine.emdur.
‘Onion skin colour in appearance. The wine is dry yet exudes nectarine, hybrid-tea rose, cherry and ginger aromatics. Fresh notes of cut ginger, dried cherries flow onto the palate; bright acidity and a savoury, powdery finish pulls the wine together on the close.’ – Brad Hickey, Vinitor, September 1, 2020.
