Brash Higgins 2018 ‘CBSV’ Cabernet Sauvignon-Organic
The fruit for the 2018 CBSV was hand selected at the Organic Brash Higgins estate Omensetter Vineyard. The vines were planted in 1997 into a unique, shallow sandstone shift in the predominately clay over limestone vineyard. 2018 may be our finest effort yet, as the vines survived intact after a wicked hailstorm ripped thru the region in November. A touch longer elevage than usual, 20 mos, showed superb results. 200 cases
‘Perfumed nose; caraway seeds, floral, sweet mint, blueberries and cassis, with spicy notes of Earl Grey tea, and Dutch liquorice. On the palate the wine is smooth and rich with the sweet earthiness of roasted root vegetables, the acidity of rhubarb and the dark lusciousness of black currants. Layered and complex, the 2018 finishes with lovely sweet notes as well as that typical cabernet tannin keeping the wine taut.’ – Brad Hickey, Vinitor, November 2020.
